Then there is the question of where the nicotine comes from. Traditionally, e-liquid nicotine was extracted from tobacco leaves. Much of our lineup skips the plant entirely and runs on ZTN, Zero Tobacco Nicotine (synthetic nicotine), which is built molecule by molecule in a lab and never touches a tobacco leaf.

What Is Not in the Bottle

Sometimes the ingredient list matters most for what is missing from it. Two things people constantly expect to find in vape juice simply are not there.

Five things every label tells you

• The ratio: a number pair like 70/30 or 50/50, always VG first. It predicts the pull: more VG means more cloud, more PG means more snap.
• The strength: printed in mg or percent. Low numbers like 3mg and 6mg signal freebase for tanks. Big numbers like 35mg and 50mg signal salts for pods.
• The size: 100ml usually means low-strength freebase. 30ml usually means high-strength salts. The bottle size is a clue all by itself.
• The nicotine source: a ZTN mark means the nicotine was made in a lab, with zero tobacco leaf involved.
