Lip Pillows, Lippies, and Nicopods: A Guide to Nicotine Pouch Slang
by Kyle Irvin on Oct 22, 2026
The Quick Answer
Lippies, lip pillows, and nicopods are nicknames for nicotine pouches. Upper and lower deckies describe where a pouch sits. White snus usually means a nicotine pouch without tobacco leaf, but white portion snus contains tobacco.
Lip pillows. Nicopods. Upper deckies. You could hear all three in the same conversation and wonder how many different products people are talking about.
Usually, they’re talking about nicotine pouches. The names just describe different things: what the pouch looks like, where it goes, or what someone decided to call it. Some are easy to figure out. Others need a little translation.

Lippy and lipper
You might call yours a lippy or a lipper. Both get the point across when you’re already talking about pouches, without the full four-word introduction of “upper decky lip pillow.”
“Lipper” has another meaning, though. It can refer to a pinch of dip under the lip, so someone using that word isn’t necessarily talking about a nicotine pouch. The conversation tells you which one they mean.
Lip pillows, gum pillows, and lip cushies
A small, soft pouch looks a bit like a pillow or cushion. That explains lip pillow, gum pillow, and lip cushie, sometimes written as “lip cushion.” They’re different names for the same basic idea.
None belongs to a particular brand.
Calling a Juice Head nicotine pouch a lip pillow makes just as much sense as calling any other nicotine pouch one. The nickname won’t tell you what’s inside, though. Mango Strawberry Mint and an unflavored pouch could both be lip pillows, and you’d notice the difference pretty quickly.

Nicopods and nic pods
Nicopod is another name for a nicotine pouch. You’ll also see it written as two words: nic pod. Despite “pod” being in the name, there’s no device involved.
A nicopod goes under the lip; a vape pod is part of a vaping device.
It’s an understandable mix-up, especially if you’ve used both. “Nicotine pouch” is the clearer name when you want to avoid explaining which kind of pod you mean.
Upper deckies and lower deckies
These names tell you where the pouch sits. An upper decky is a pouch under the upper lip, while a lower decky refers to lower-lip placement. “Upper deckie,” “upper decker,” and “lower decker” are variations you might come across.
They aren’t different products. Moving a pouch doesn’t change its ingredients or nicotine content.
Then there’s upper decky lip pillow, which combines the nickname and the location. It’s a mouthful for something that takes up very little room in your mouth.

White pouches and all-white
White pouches and all-white usually refer to nicotine pouches made without tobacco leaf. These sound more like product descriptions than nicknames, and that’s largely how they’re used.
But white doesn’t mean plain.
A white pouch might have fruit, mint, coffee, or another flavor. The color doesn’t tell you how sweet it is, how much nicotine it contains, or whether it has any flavor at all. If you want unflavored, look for that word specifically.
White snus, all-white snus, and tobacco-free snus
These are common names for nicotine pouches without tobacco leaf. They share the under-the-lip placement of traditional snus, which helps explain why the snus name carries over.
The distinction to watch for is white portion snus. That’s tobacco-containing snus in a white pouch. It sounds similar, but it isn’t another name for a tobacco-leaf-free nicotine pouch. Check the ingredients if you’re unsure which one you’re looking at.
Nics and nic pouches
Nic pouch is simply a shortened version of nicotine pouch.
Nics is less specific. It’s used as shorthand for pouches, but the word alone doesn’t tell you exactly which nicotine product someone means. You need the rest of the conversation.
And plain old pouch still works, provided the person you’re talking to already knows what’s in your pocket.
What about dip and chew?
You might hear these words used loosely around pouches, but they refer to different tobacco products. Calling a nicotine pouch “chew” doesn’t mean you should chew it. Pouches are intended to rest between the lip and gum.
Our guide to nicotine pouches, dip, and chewing tobacco covers the product differences in more detail.
For the nicknames, at least, lip pillow is fairly straightforward. Once someone starts talking about all-white mini nicopods, you’re allowed to ask them to just show you the label.
